In the **Portfolio** section of your dashboard, you’ll find your **custom cards**, including the default types: **opportunities**, **pain points**, and **solutions –** three types of cards designed to capture and organize key insights from your journey maps.

* **Opportunities**: Highlight potential improvements or areas for growth within the journey.
* **Pain points**: Identify specific obstacles or frustrations encountered by users.
* **Solutions**: Outline proposed ideas or actions aimed at addressing the identified pain points.

Each card type helps teams prioritize and track actionable insights across journeys

### Custom cards: add your own card types

On top of the three default portfolio card types (= opportunity, pain point and solution cards), you can add additional custom cards to match your organization's needs. Your company works with *Insights* or *Moments of Truth*? Simply create these in your account settings.

{% hint style="info" %}
*You can* [*customize the names and dimensions*](/account-settings/customization.md) *of your all your custom card types in your account settings.*
{% endhint %}

### How to add **custom cards to your journey maps?**

1. [Add the dedicated lane](/journey-editor/editor/lanes-columns.md) of which portfolio card you'd like to add, or simply add the respective card type – depending on your needs.

2. When you add a custom card to your journey, a modal opens that shows existing items. Choose one of these, or create a new one.&#x20;

### Example: How to create a pain point&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/mrmyAjKjpySAOK0Q5RDx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In this example we create a new pain point.&#x20;

1. **Name** the pain point
2. **Describe it in detail** -> This pain point will be reusable **in all the maps of your workspace**, so it's important to describe it in detail.&#x20;
3. **Define parameters** that are decisive for the position and size of the dot in the [Portfolio matrix](/portfolio/portfolio-summary-and-matrix.md) -> Here the parameters are called Impact, Reach, and Cost; they can be [customized](/account-settings/customization.md) though by the admin of the shared workspace.
4. Add a priority, a status, and an assignee.
5. **Add tags** for easier management of your pain points in the portfolio matrix.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
*The changes you make will affect **all cards in journey maps of this workspace**, where this portfolio data is linked.*
{% endhint %}

In this modal, you can also see in how many and which maps your pain point has been used.

Clicking on a portfolio item card in your journey opens the card detail sidebar as below. Please note that all info in the **gray box is referring directly to the pain point** (a*nd will affect all cards in journey maps of this workspace, where this portfolio data is linked*).

All white sections in this sidebar refer to the card, such as the persona assigned and tags, or the comments added to this card.

### Display options

Choose from different options of how you want to display your portfolio item in a journey map: Full or shorened description, compact or custom view, or [Linked custom cards](/portfolio/linked-custom-cards.md)

### Portfolio summary in the journey map info section

The journey information displays a summary of all added items. Click on an item to open the portfolio page, pre-filtered to show the relevant entries from the current map:
